Plymouth Guild of Voluntary Services have an on-line
database of courses and career opportunities. We are
working with them to develop a symbol supported site
accessible by people with language and learning difficulties.
The site has clear navigation and gives information
on the courses and venues.
This area of the Plymouth web site is intended for
service users who would like to access courses in
the district. Previously the information required
mediation or explanation from a carer. The new area
can be accessed independently, helping users to gain
a feeling of being consulted and exercising choice.
The project is jointly funded by the Learning and
Skills Council, European Social Fund and Single Regeneration
Budget.
